Jonathan Spalter, Chairman and CEO

Before creating Public Insight, Jonathan Spalter was CEO of Snocap, Inc., the digital copyright management service founded by the creators of Napster. He has also held senior management roles at Vivendi Universal, the global media communications group where he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Vivendi's health publishing subsidiary, Atmedica Worldwide, and was later promoted to serve as Vivendi Universal's group Senior Vice President responsible for the company's public policy teams worldwide. In 1998, Spalter was confirmed by the US Senate to serve as Associate Director of the US Information Agency, where he also was appointed CIO. Spalter served in the White House as a Director on the National Security Council staff, as a senior policy appointee at the Pentagon, and as chief international affairs spokesman for Vice President Al Gore. In addition to his work in government, Spalter also has been a Principal at the Dewey Square Group, advising global energy, healthcare and financial services companies on marketing and government affairs strategies. In the 1980's, Spalter was an analyst at Multinational Strategies Inc., the New York investment advisory firm. He was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University, and received the M.Phil. from Cambridge University, where he focused on international economics and political risk analysis. A frequent commentator and author on financial markets and public policy, he is a member and former Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations, and has served on the boards and executive committees of Active Europe, S.A., Havas MediMedia, Platform Equity, LP, and Meaningful Machines, Inc.


Fred Hatfield, Senior Counsellor for Federal Regulatory Affairs

Fed Hatfield served as Commissioner on the Commodities Future Trading Commission, and previously was chief of staff to Senator John Breaux and House Majority Whip Tony Coelho. He was also at Patton Boggs, and is on the Board of the Managed Funds Association.


Nancy Ozeas, Director of Research and Client Services

Nancy Ozeas joins Public Insight as Director of Research and Client Services. Nancy comes to PI with a long-track record in public policy, finance, and government service. Nancy's private sector experience includes work at Goldman Sachs where she served as a Special Assistant to then President Lloyd Blankfein. Nancy was Senior Executive Director of Integrated Communications at UCLA, Director of Communications and Public Programs at Human Rights First and a Senior Advisor to Live Earth, the worldwide on line and entertainment event on climate change. Nancy served as Vice President of International Medical Corps, Executive Director of Step Up Women’s Network, and as Director of Communications and Strategic Planning at the U.S. Department of State. Nancy also held the positions of Chief of Staff at the United States Information Agency’s Information Bureau and served as a Special Assistant to U.S. Education Secretary Richard Riley. She graduated from Chatham College, and pursued an MBA at Boston University.


Dr. David Ponet, Vice President and Director of Research

Dr. David Ponet joins Public Insight as Vice President and Director of Research. He most recently served as a Senior Policy Advisor to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities where he worked on energy, clean energy, telecommunications, and water policy and regulation. Ponet previously was Policy Director for Fernando Ferrer's campaign for mayor of New York City. In addition, Ponet has taught American government courses at Columbia University and the City University of New York. Ponet holds a BA in political science from Yale University and an MA, M.Phil and PhD in political science from Columbia University.

Dr. Paul M. Sacks has been President of Multinational Strategies, the investment advisory firm, for 25 years. He is a pioneer in the field of international country risk analysis, and started the country risk analysis operation at Chase Manhattan Bank. He has focused significantly on financial advisory work and privatizations in CEE. He was a Professor of Political Science and received his PhD in political science at UCLA.
